with temptacion̛ of his flessℏ; bod becauce þat he wold̛ nott offend̛ allmyghti God̛, he besoght þe pope þat he wold̛ giff hym̛ lefe to be weddid̛. And þe pope, considuryng his gudenes & his symplenes, gaff hym̛ a ryng, & bad hym̛ go home vnto a fayr̛ ymage of Saynt Agnes, þat was paynttid̛ in his kurk, & on̛ his behalfe charge hur þat sho sulde suffre hym̛ wed hur. And þe preste come home & chargid̛ þe ymage as þe pope bad [hym]. And onone sho putt furtℏ hur ryng-fynger & profird̛ it to hym̛, & he putt on̛ þe ryng. And [sho] drew in hur fynger agayn̛, And onone aƚƚ maner of temptacion [MS. temptacid.] passid̛ away fro þis preste. And in Rome in hur [After hur, hu, erased.] kurk, at þis day, þe same ryng shewis yitt on̛ hur fynger, & is closid̛ into þe burde agayn̛. et c̛.
