Missa iterum et alio modo valet viuis.
Petrus Clunacensis [MS. Climacensis.] tellis þat in þe dioces of Politan̛, in Grece [Harl. MS. in diocesi Greciopolitana.] , þer was a man̛ [For men, Latin viri.] þatt wroght in a banke for syluer vre. And sodanlie þe banke feƚƚ and kyllid aƚƚ þat was vnder-nethe. So þer was one of þaim ran̛ in-to a corner of þe banke and was savid̛, neuer-þe-les he mott nott gett oute. And his wyfe, trowyng þat he was dead̛, euerilk day garte do a mes for hym̛, and daylie at þat mes sho offerd̛ a candeƚƚ and a lofe of bread̛ and a litle pott fuƚƚ of wyne. And on̛ a tyme þe devuƚƚ had envy at hur dede, & daylie iij dayes to-gedur, in a mans liknes, he mett hur and axkid̛ hur whedur sho went, and evur sho tolde hym̛ þe cauce of hur gate. And he ansswerd̛ hur agayn̛ & said̛; "Labur not to þe kurk in vayn̛, for þe preste hathe done mess." And so þies iij dayes to-gedur sho owr̛-hippid̛ & offird̛ nott. So afterward̛ þer happend̛ a man̛ grafe in þe same banke. And sodanlie as he wroght, he hard̛ one speke & say; "Smyte softelie, for þer is a grete stone bown̛ to faƚƚ on̛ me." And þis man̛ was ferd̛ with þis voyce, & callid̛ dyvers folke to here it. And he grofe on̛, and belife he harde þe same voyce. And with þat he wroght on̛ & fond̛ þis man̛ & tuke hym̛ oute quykk̘, & axkid hym̛ how he liffid̛ þer so long. And he told̛ þaim þat euerilk day, outtaken̛ iij dayes to-gedur, sen̛ þe banke feƚƚ on̛ hym̛ was broght vnto hym̛ a lofe of bread̛ and a pygg with wyne & a light candyƚƚ. And when̛ his wyfe hard þis sho was passyng glad̛, & knew verelie þat he was sustenyd̛ with hur offrand, and at þe devuƚƚ begylid̛ hur þies iij dayes þat sho sulde nott gar mes be done, to thentent þat he wold̛ nott þe meracle of þe mes had bene provid̛ nor of þe sacrament nowther.
