mercie on̛ me." And when̛ he dyed̛, a man̛ þat was vexid̛ with a fend̛ was delyverd̛. So afterward̛ þe fend̛ come agayn̛ vnto þis man̛ and vexid̛ hym̛ hugelie, more þan̛ he did̛ afor̛. And a gude holie man̛ come vnto hym̛ & askid̛ hym̛ whi þat he did so. And he ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & said̛; "We war many fendis gadurd̛ samen at þe dead̛ of swylk a knyght, and becauce we gatt nothyng þer, þerfor̛ aƚƚ þat I can̛ saƚƚ I venge me in hym̛ þis." And þis holie man̛ spirrid̛ hym̛ þe cauce how þai had no power of þat knyght, and he ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & sayd̛ þat þe knyght sayd̛ alonelie iij wurdis or he dyed̛, "be þe whilk aƚƚ þe power þat we had in hym̛ was loste."
