Mendacium eciam corporaliter nocet.
We read̛ in 'Legenda Lombardica' how Iulius & Iulianus wer brether, and þai bygid̛ a kurk, and be commandment of þe Emperour Theodoce, aƚƚ þat evur come by þaim þai wold̛ gar þaim abyde, & helpe þaim. So þer happend̛ a meneya com̛ þer-away [with] a carte, & þai laid̛ ane of þer felows in þe carte, & coverd̛ hym̛ with a clothe as he had bene dead̛. And when̛ þai come be þis werke, þies ij saynttis bad þaim abide with þer carte & helpe þaim, and þai said̛ þai had in þer carte a dead man̛ & þerfor̛ þai had nede at haste þaim away. And þe sayntis ansswerd̛ þaim & said̛; "Whi lie ye? Go your wais, & as ye say so be it vnto you." And when̛ þai war passid̛, þai callid̛ vppon̛ þer felow and þai fand̛ hym̛ starke dead̛. And fro þens furtℏ þer was nane at come þer-away at durst ans make a le vnto þies sayntis. et c̛.
