Ludus debet esse honestus.
When̛ Altibiades Socrasticus was with ane eame of his & lernyd̛ þe vij scians liberaƚƚ, his [MS. he.] eame gaff a tromper a trompe þat is callid̛ Tibia, to thentent þat he sulde lern̛ his cossyn̛ to trompe þerwith & to syng þerwith, ffor in þat contre it was a common̛ mynstraly. And he sett þis trompe to his mouthe & began̛ to blaw, & it was foyste & iƚƚ-saverd̛ & garte hym make grete chekis, & as hym̛ þoght, it deformyd̛ his face when̛ he blew þerin. And her̛-for̛ he keste it fra hym̛ & brak it. And be exsample of hym̛, þat he luffid it nott, he chargid̛ aƚƚ þe contre þer he dwelte afterward̛ þat þai sulde neuer vse þat mynstralcie, and so þai vsid̛ it neuer vnto þis day.
