And so þis holie man̛ þoght he wolde venge þis temptacion̛ in hym̛ selfe, & þe same day þat hand̛ at slanderd̛ hym̛ so, privalie he cut it off & keste it fro hym̛. And in þe mene while þer rase emang þe common̛ peple a gret murmor whi þe pope said̛ not mes as he was wunt to doo.
