Iudicium vltimum debet timeri.
We rede of a kyng þat traveld̛ be þe way with his baronage in a gay kyngis charyott. So hym̛ happend to mete ij men̛ cled in hevie clothyng, whilk þat war iƚƚ hewid̛, & had pale facis, and þe kyng come down̛ oute of his chariott & wurshuppid̛ þaim. And his baronage tuke it to iƚƚ, & be þer cownceƚƚ his bruther resond̛ hym̛ þerfor̛. And in þat realm̛ þis was þe custom̛, þat vnto þe yate of hym̛ þat sulde be iugied vnto dead̛, sulde þe kyngis messanger be sent befor̛, to make ane oyas. And when̛ þai come home þe kyng garte þat be done befor̛ his bruther yate. And þat done, his bruther & his wife & his childer come in a mornyng clothyng vnto þe kyng, wepand̛ & makand̛ sorow. And þan̛ þe kyng spak vnto his bruther & sayd̛; "O, þou fule! If þou hafe dred þe bedeƚƚ of þi bruther, whome þou knowis þou trispasid̛ noȝt vnto, how durste þou take on̛ hand̛ to chalange me becauce I mekend̛ me befor̛ þe bedels & þe messangiers of aƚƚmighti God̛
