Iudicandum non est de proximis eciam peccatoribus.

We rede in 'Legenda Iohannis Elemosinarij' of a yong man̛ þat ravisshid a non̛. And when̛ clerkis broght þis man̛ befor̛ Johannes Elemosinarius, þai reprovid̛ hym̛ & said̛ he was wurthi to be cursid̛ as he þat had slayn̛ ij sawlis, þat was to say, bothe his & hurs. And þis holie man̛, Iohn̛, snybbid̛ þaim, & said̛; "Not so brether, not so! ffor I saƚƚ shew you ye do ij synys; ffurst ye do agayns þe commandment of God̛ þat sais; ' Nolite iudicare.'
