Invidie stimulis agitati religiosi aliquando se
excusant.
Cesarius tellis how som tyme þer was a monke þat was stirrid̛ with envie, and he accusid a yong man̛ vnto þe Abbott, & putt vppon̛ hym̛ grevus trispas. And þe Abbott belevid̛ hym̛ noȝt, & so oppynlie in þe chapitr̛ he putt furtℏ aƚƚ þies trispas of þis yong man̛, when̛ þer visitur was þer. And þe visitur belevid̛ hym̛ & putt þies trispas vnto þis yong man̛; and he said̛ he was nott giltie, & þat he tuke God to witnes. Notwithstondyng he was commytt vnto prison; and onone after þis envious man̛ feƚƚ seke and was ferde to dye. And þan̛ he grauntid̛ opynlie how he for envye had accusid̛ þis yong man̛. And so þis yong man̛ with grete ioy be his visitur was taken̛ oute of prison̛ agayn̛, & restorid̛ vnto his olde estate as he was befor̛.
