Hugo Clunacensis tellis how on̛ a tyme þer was a yong man̛ þat went in pylgramege vnto Saynt Iamys. And hym̛ happend to do fornicacion̛ be þe way. And þe devuƚƚ apperid̛ vnto hym̛ in fygur of Saynt Iame, & reprovid hym̛ for his fornicacion̛ & said̛ þer-for̛ his pylgramege was na wurtℏ. And he cownceld̛ hym̛ for Goddis sake and his, to cutt of his membris and so to kyƚƚ hym̛ selfe; and he did so, & was dead onone. And onone his sawle was takyn̛ with fendis; & þurgℏ þe merettis & prayers of Saynt Iamys, onone it was delyverd̛, & þe bodie restorid̛ agayn̛ vnto life and hale, safeyng onelie hym̛ wantid his membrys euer after.
