We rede in his 'Meracles' how xxx men̛ of Lothoringia come vnto Saynt Iamys, & þai aƚƚ bod one made hym̛ a privey athe of serves. So one of þaim feƚƚ seke, & his felows bade [with] hym̛ xv dayes; neuer-þe-les þai lefte hym̛ behynd̛ þaim, and þer wolde none at bade with hym̛ bod he þat was not sworn̛ to kepe felowshup̛: & he bade with hym̛ & kepid̛ hym̛ stiƚƚ at þe fute of þe Mownt Saynt Micheƚƚ, & þer on̛ a day he dyed̛. And onone Saynt Iamys [com] & comfurthid̛ þe whik man̛. And he had a gude hors, & he bad þis whik man [MS. may.] lay þe dead man̛ ouerthwarte befor̛ hym̛, & lepe on̛ hym̛ selfe behynd̛ hym̛; and so he did̛. And opon̛ þat night þai went xv day iorney and come ad Montem Gaudii, whilk þat is bod halfe a lewke fro Saynt Iamys, and þer þai lightid; & he bad hym̛ charge þe chanons of Saynt Iamys to bery þis pilgram̛.
