Adulator non est audiendus.
We rede how som̛ tyme a man̛ þat hyght Seutonius, þat was a grete lord̛, on̛ a tyme was at a gamen in þe Emperour presens, and þe Emperour commond̛ & talkyd̛ with his meneyay; & emang aƚƚ his oþer saying, he sayd̛ þat þis Seutonius was a gude lorde, and ane evyn̛ & a iuste. And his meneya was glad þerof þat [After þat, his mene, erased.] þe Emperour commandid̛ þer maister, & callid̛ hym̛ lord̛. And on̛ þe morn̛ when̛ he was commen̛ home vnto his place, þo þat callid̛ hym̛ lord̛, he was passand wrothe with þaim, & made a decre & bad þaim neuer caƚƚ hym̛ lord̛, for, he said̛, þer was no lord̛ bod one.
