Hillarij. De vita eius.
We rede in his Legend̛, how þat a pope þat hight Leo was dampnid̛ of heresye, and he gadurd̛ samen to a cownceƚƚ aƚƚ þe bisshopp̛[is]. And þis Hillarius come to þis cownceƚƚ vncallid̛; and þe pope hard̛ teƚƚ att he come, & warnyd̛ at no man̛ sulde rise nor giff hym̛ rowme. And when̛ he come in, þe pope said̛ vnto hym̛; "þou erte Hillarie & a Frawncℏe man̛!" And he ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & said̛; "I am̛ no Franche man̛, bod I am̛ bisshop̛ of France." And þe pope ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & said̛; "And I am̛ Leo, þe pope, and a iustis." And Hillarius ansswerd̛ hym̛ agayn̛ & sayd̛; "Thuff aƚƚ þou be Leo, yitt þou erte noght of þe trybe of Iuda; & þuff aƚƚ þou be a iustis, yitt þou sittis noȝt in þe seate of magestie."
