We rede how on̛ a tyme, when̛ Saynt Gregur was a chyld̛, our Lord̛ apperid̛ vnto hym̛, at his moder yate, in liknes of a pure shipman̛, and askid̛ hym̛ his almos. & he had̛ bod̛ xd̛ in his purs, & he gaff hym̛ vjd̛ þeroff. And belife after, þe same day, he come agayn̛, & askid̛ hym̛ mor̛; & þan̛ he gaff hym̛ þe toder iiijd̛. And agayn̛ evyn̛ he come agayn̛, & askid̛ mor̛; & he had no thyng at giff hym̛, bod̛ a syluer disscℏ þatt his moder had giffen̛ hym̛ potage in, & þat he gaff hym̛. And he was fayn̛ þer-of, & went his wayes þerwith. And efterward̛, our Lord̛ lete hym̛ se be reuelacion̛, þat Hym̛ selfe was þat shipman̛ þat he gaff þat syluer dissℏ vnto.
