We rede how þat when̛ Hugo de Sancto Victore, þat was ane excellent doctur and a devoute in religion̛, agayn̛ he sulde dye laburd̛ gretelie in sekenes & no meate mott hold̛, he prayed̛ his brethir with a grete instans for to giff hym̛ þe sacrament. And his brethir þoght þai wuld̛ somwhat slake his truble, and þai tuke a symple oste & broght hym̛ in-stead̛ of þe sacrament. And he conseyvid̛ in his spiritt at þai did̛ wrong, & sayd̛; "God hafe mercie of you, brether, whi wuld̛ ye hafe disseyvid̛ me? For þis is not my Lord̛ at ye hafe broght." And þai had grete merveƚƚ here-of, and went and fechid̛ þe sacrament.
