Balwaria.] , how þat a ryche lord̛, att was dead̛, vppon̛ a nyght apperid̛ vnto his wife, and sho askid̛ hym̛ whatt estate he stude in; & he ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & sayd̛ þat he was dampnyd̛. And sho askid̛ hym̛ whi he said̛ so, & said; "Whatt profettis you your grete almos-ded̛, & þe herberie at ye did̛?" And he said̛ þai profett hym̛ no thyng vnto evurlastand̛ life, for he sayd̛ he did þaim nott be way of charite, bod rather for vayn̛ glorie. And sho askid̛ hym̛ mekuƚƚ mor̛, & he said̛ þat he myght nott abyde & tarye with hur, for his maister þe devuƚƚ bade hym̛ with-oute þe dure. And he said̛, & þe levis of aƚƚ treis in þis werld̛ wer turnyd̛ into tonges, þai might nott aƚƚ teƚƚ his paynys. And þan̛ his maister callid̛ hym̛; and when̛ he wente aƚƚ þe casteƚƚ shuke with.
