Abstinencia. Abstinentibus deus providet de
necessarijs.
Saynt Gregorie tellis how þat ane abbott, þat hight Honoratus, & his fadur & his moder, on̛ a tyme made a feste vnto his frendis. And þer was at þis feste a childe þat was ane of his kynsmen̛ þat satt att þe burd̛, and when̛ þai bad hym̛ eate flessℏ, he wolde eate none, for grete abstinens þat he vssyd̛. And þai þat satt abowte lowgℏ at hym̛, & askid̛ hym̛ in skorn̛, sen̛ he wolde nott ete flessℏ, if he wold̛ eate any fysscℏ. & he ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & said̛, "Ya." & he had it. And in þe mene while at þai talkid þus with hym̛, happend þaim want watir; & þan̛ þer mawnciple went vnto þe weƚƚ & drew watir. And as he was drawand̛, þer happend̛ of Sodentie a fyssℏ to com̛ in-to þe bukett, & þat a grete; & he was fayn̛ þerof, & broght it in & lete þe abbott se itt. & þe abbott
