Elemosina remuneratur in presenti.

We rede in 'Gestis Iohannis Elemosinarij' how þer was a knyght at was robbid̛, and he come vnto þis Iohannes & told̛ hym̛ of his myschefe; and he commandid̛ a servand̛ of his to gyff hym̛ xv libra of gold̛, and he gaff hym̛ bod v libra. And þer come a wedow vnto hym̛ with a byƚƚ, & xv [Latin MSS. dedit ei ... noticiam exennij v. centenariorum auri.] markis of gold̛ wretyn̛ þerin, & he tuke it & delyvird̛ it vnto his men̛, & askid̛ þaim what þai gaff þe pure man̛, & þai said̛ xv libra, as þai had in commandment; & he had knowlege at þai did wrong & askid̛ þaim þe byƚƚ agayn̛, and þer was wretten̛ þerin bod v [The Latin MSS. further explain that Iohannes said, "Si dedissetis xv ut iusseram, que attulit v. centenaria xv attulisset."] .
