Petrus Damianus tellis how som tyme þer was a pure husband-man̛, and he had no mor̛ money lefte to by hym̛ with soule vnto his bread̛ bod a peny; and sodanlie þer come a pure man̛ & askid̛ hym̛ a peny for Goddis sake, & he gaff hym̛ þis peny with gude wiƚƚ. And so he went home & sett hym̛ down̛ to his meatt, and his wife sett bread̛ befor̛ hym̛ & no soule. And sodanlie þer come in ane vncutℏ man̛ hastelie with xx soldi bon̛ in a clothe, & putt it in his hand̛, & said̛ his lorde sent hym̛ it. & he thankid̛ hym̛ & prayed̛ hym̛ bide & drynke. And ewhils þai went at feche hym̛ a drynk, sodanlie he was away.
