Petrus Clariuall tellis how in a Cathedraƚƚ-kurk of Fraunce þer feƚƚ a [MS. repeats, a.] dis-corde for chesyng of þer bisshopp̛. So þai compromysid̛ vnto a cardinaƚƚ þat was þer, þat he sulde chese þaim one of ij, whame þai namyd̛. And þis Cardinaƚƚ tuke counceƚƚ att þis holie man̛ Petrus Clariuaƚƚ, whethur hym̛ was bettir to chese to be bisshopp̛; and he ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & sayde, þat of ij fals penys þe bettur may nott be chosyn̛.
