Valerius tellis how ane of þe vij sagis, when̛ his enmys come into his contrey & tuke aƚƚ his gudis & his riches & fled̛ away þerwith, he was askid̛ whi he folowd̛ not on̛ þaim & tuke som̛ of his gudis fro þaim. And he ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & sayd̛; "Forsuthe whar-som̛-evur I go, I bere aƚƚ my gudis with me." For he bare þaim in his breste and noght on̛ his shulder, & not be syght of his ene, bod rather in his mynd̛ & his witt; "ffor þat," he sayd̛, "þat is closid̛ in a mans mynde & in his harte may not be takyn̛ away with no mans hand̛, nor þai may not stele nor fle away þerwith."
