Demon obstinatus est in malo.
Cesarius tellis how on̛ a tyme when̛ a devuƚƚ had turment horrebly a man̛ þat he was in, it was sayd̛ vnto hym̛ of a certan̛ man̛; "Teƚƚ me, þou fend̛, if þou may com̛ agayn̛ vnto þe blis at þou hase loste; and if þou might, what wold̛ þou do þerfor̛?" And þe fend̛ ansswerd̛ agayn̛ & said̛; "And it war in my chose, I had leuer go vnto heƚƚ with a sawle þat I had desayvid̛, þan̛ for to turn̛ agayn̛ vnto hevyn̛." & þai þat hard̛ hym̛ say so, had grete mervayle þerof, & þan̛ he sayd̛ agayn̛ vnto þaim; "wharto merveƚƚ ye here-of? My malice is so mekuƚƚ and̛ I am̛ so obstinatt & so fraward̛, þat I may not wiƚƚ nor desire nothyng att is gude nor profetable vnto my selfe." et c̛.
