"My lord̛ on̛ a tyme sent me ane erand̛ vnto Attrebatt [Latin MSS. Attrebater, Atrebater.] ; and when̛ I and my servand̛ wer in a wud, we hard̛ a grete noyse of armyd̛ men̛, & as vs thoght, of harnessid̛ hors, and fendis cryand̛, & sayd̛; 'Now we hafe our purpas of Arta , and onone we saƚƚ hafe our purpos [Latin 'prepositum' misread as 'purpos'='propositum,' and repeated before 'bisshopp of Beam.' Latin: Iam habemus prepositum de Isrea, in proximo habebimus archiepiscopum Remensis.] of þe bisshopp̛ of Beam̛'; bod we may nott gett furtℏ our hors, nowder with staffis nor spurris. And þan̛ I sayd̛ vnto my servand̛; 'Latt vs make crossis in our forhedis, & þan̛ saƚƚ we go sekurlie.' And so we did̛.
