Absolucio ad-huc valet post mortem.

We rede in þe life of Saynt Gregur how at þer was ane abbott of a monasterie off Saynt Gregories, and he come vnto Saynt Gregur & tolde hym̛ how þat he had a monk in his place þat vsid̛ for to cone mony vnder-nethe þe ertℏ, & wolde not lefe it for no commandmente. And Saynt Gregur sent for hym̛, & chargid̛ o payn̛ of cursyng to lefe it. So with-in a while after, þis monke dyed̛, & Saynt Gregur wuste nott. And when̛ he was enformed̛ þerof,

he was wrothe þat þis monke died̛ vnasoylid̛. And he wrote his absolucion̛ in a scrow of papir to assoyle hym̛ of þe said̛ sentans of cursyng, and gaff it vnto ane of his dekyns, & commandid̛ him to go vnto þis monke grafe þer he was berid̛, & rede it ouer hym̛. And he did so, and vppon̛ þe nyght after, þis monk þat was deade apperid̛ in a vision̛ vnto his abbott, & tolde hym̛ þat fro he was dede vnto he was asoylid̛ he was in grete payn̛, bod fro þe howr̛ þat he was asoylid̛ he went vnto blis, & was delyverd̛ of aƚƚ his payn̛. et c̛.
