Cesarius tellis how þer was a doctur of Dyvinitie þat was a gay prechur, & he hight Thomas. And when̛ he was seke & bown̛ to dye, he was war of þe devuƚƚ standdand̛ in a noke of þe chawmbre þer he lay, and he coniurid̛ hym̛ & spirrid̛ hym̛ many thyngis. And emang aƚƚ oþer thyngis he askid̛ hym̛ what noyed̛ hym̛ & his felos moste. And he said̛ att no þing noyed nor hurte þaim so iƚƚ as did̛ confession̛; ffor when̛ a man̛ is in deadlie syn̛, aƚƚ his membres is bon̛, & he may not mofe hym̛; and onone as he is shrevyn̛, þan̛ is he lowse, and redie vnto aƚƚ gudenes.
