Columba. Columbarum nutricio non placet Deo.

Cesarius tellis how som tyme þer was a knight þat luffid̛ wele to bryng vp & brede dowvis in his place in his chaw[m]ber-endis, & in dyvers oþer places. And his curatt tolde hym̛ þat it was grete syn̛ vnto hym̛ for to kepe so many of þaim to-gedur, for als mekuƚƚ as þai hurte & wastid̛ his neghburs cornys. So on̛ a day he tuke a skuttylfuƚƚ of corn̛ & callid̛ þaim to-gedur & gaff þaim meate. And when̛ þai wer aƚƚ to-gedur befor̛ hym̛, he spak vnto þaim with a clere voyce þat aƚƚ men̛ myght here, and̛ sayde on̛ þis maner of wyse; "Ye dowvis! If it be Goddis wiƚƚ att ye bide with me, dweƚƚ stiƚƚ, or els I commawnd̛ you in Goddis name at ye rise vp, & flee away faste." And att þis wurde, onone aƚƚ þies dowvis rase vpp, & flow clene away in a grete flokk̘. And neuer after fro thens furtℏ þai come agayn̛ vnto his place. et c̛.
