Clericus ratione status sui habuit plura privilegia

We rede how þat a poett, þat hight Valerius, wulde neuer ryse vnto Iulius Cesar when̛ he come in-to þe company of poettis, as it had bene a man̛ þat had̛ nott kend̛ his magestie; and he did̛ it aƚƚ becauce he trustid̛ hym̛ selfe was moste hye in comparyson̛ of studie & lernyng. And he askid̛ hym̛ whi he wuld̛ not ryse vnto hym̛, & he said̛ he wold̛ nott for þer was no place of temporaltie nor of feghtyng in armur, bod aƚƚ of turnyng of bukys & volums.
