Cantare vel eciam scribere, vel eciam referre aliqua
crimina scurilia, uel inhonesta carmina, non
expedit. et c̛.
Valerius tellis of one þat was a passand̛ famos poett, þat hight Aurilegus [Lat. MSS. Archilegus.] ; and for cauce of his oppynyons, þe contre at he dwelte in damnyd̛ his bukys & exilde hym̛ selfe, and aƚƚ be-cauce at his bukys spakk of vnclennes of liffyng & of gestis & enchawntementis. þerfor þai wold̛ nott suffer hym̛ abide emangis þaim, at his bukis suld̛ not be ensample to iƚƚ vnto þer contre afterward̛ when̛ he was dead̛.
