We rede how þat þer was som̛ tyme a holie mayden̛ in a monasterie of virgyns. And on̛ a day as sho went into hur garthyn̛, sho saw ane herbe þat is callid̛ letes, and sho desyrid̛ to eate þeron̛ gretelie; & sho tuke þerof & blissid̛ it nott & ete þer-on̛, for sho forgatt at bliss it. And onone sho was taken̛ with a fend̛ & feƚƚ down̛; and þer come vnto hur a holie man̛ þat hyght Equirius, & purseyvid̛ þat a fend̛ was in hur, & commandid̛ hym̛ to go oute of hur. And þan̛ þis fend̛ cryed̛ & said̛; "Allas! whatt hafe I done? I satt opon̛ þe letes, & sho come & tuke me vp̛ & bate me." & vnnethis for aƚƚ þis holie mans commandment, wald̛ he go oute of hur. et c̛.
