And whan he saw / the peeple of noyse al stille Thus shewed he / the myghty Dukes wylle Line 2536 ¶ . The lord hath / of heye discrecion Considered / that it were destruccion To gentil blode / to fighten in the gyse Of mortal bataille / now in this emprise Line 2540 wherfore to shapen / that they shal nat deye he wol his ffirst purpos / modifie ¶ .
