Line 1312 Be þat owr kyng with hys knyghtez · was comen to þe wale, Alex[ander] with an hoste · hys athell to help, Fyndes a few of hys folke · feghtyng full ȝarne, And a sege by hym-self · sett to a hundreth. Line 1316 With þat bucifelon hys blonke · he brochys in þe sydez, Spryngez forth with a spere · spyllez at þe ganest, Rides euen þorow þe route · þare rankest þai were, [folio 11b] The rawes of þair arayes · he rushes to þe erth, Line 1320 He strikez all þair stedes · streght downe hym before, Was none so styffe in þe stoure · to stand hym ayayns; Þar all þe thikest wer of thrange · thrugh þaim he rynnes, And makez a way wyde enogh · waynez for to mete. Line 1324 He lashes owt a lang swerde · when hys launce wantes, Thristez downe in a thraw · mony thryme dokes, Stirrez hym so in a stound · he and hys styff ereles, Þat þar ne was bern on þe bent · bot bryttynett or ȝolden. Line 1328 The segges of hys awne syde · all at he slayn fyndez, He makes to grave, some in grete · some in gray marbyll. And þo þat left wer on lyue · he leches þair woundez, And fair fangez he hys folke · & fro þe feld turnes. [3a victoria alexandri.] Line 1332 . . . . . . . . . . Then prekes forth with hys pray · þus before gaders, And turnes agayn toward tyre · to terme hys seige.
