[verse 1] And [sektys in the margin, 1st corr. S.] knowe þou þis, þat in þe laste dayes þer schuleþ ben perylous tymes. [verse 2] For men schulleþ ben lofynge hem|selfen, coueytous and proude, blasphemes, in-obedyent to [verse 3] hure eldren, vnkynde, cursede, wiþ-outen lofe, wiþ-outen pes, blamynge oþer men, incontynent, noȝ[t] muke, with-outen [verse 4] benygnyte, traytoures, fro-ward, swellynge þoroȝ pruyde, [verse 5] loferes of lustes more þan of God; hafynge þe lyknesse of pyte bote forsakynge his vertu: and þese schenye [schonye P.] þou. [verse 6] For of þese þer beþ þat perseþ mennes houses, & ledeþ wiþ hem wrecchede wymmen þat beþ y-charged wiþ synnes [verse 7] & y-lad wiþ dyuerse desyres, & efermore þei beþ lernynge, bote þei ne comeþ nefer to þe knowynge of trewþe. [verse 8] And as Iannes [s on erasure, S.] & Mambres aȝenstoden [aȝenstonden P.] Moyses, so þese aȝeynstondeþ þe trewþe; men þat beþ corrupt in pouȝt, & wykked a-boute þe feiþ. [verse 9] Bote þei ne schuleþ noȝt profyten: for hure vnkun|nyngenesse schal ben openlyche [en on erasure, S.] y-knowen [S folio 83] to alle men, ryȝt as þe oþeres was. [verse 10] Bote þou hast folewed my techynge, myn ordeynynge, & my purpos, feiþ, longanymyte (þat [verse 11] is longabydynge) [Thus in P. þt is lonabydege in the margin, 1st corr. S.] , lofe, pacyence, persecucyones, suffrynges, whyche [P folio 95b] habbeþ y-ben y-do to me at Anthyoche, at Yconye & at Lystres; whuche persecucyones ich haue y-suffred: bote God haþ defended me of hem alle. [verse 12] And alle þilke þat woleþ lyfen mukelyche in Crist schulleþ suffre persecucyoun. [verse 13] Bote wykkede men & gyloures schulleþ profyten into worse, errynge hem-selfen, & bryngen oþer men in-to errour. [verse 14] Bote dwelle þow stylle in þese þinges, þat þou hast y-lernyd & þat beþ y-take to þe, knowynge of whom þou hast y-lernyd; [verse 15] & þat from þi ȝouþe þou hast y-knowe holy wrytynges þat mowen enforme þe in-to hele by þe feiþ þat is in Iesu Crist. [verse 16] And eferich wrytynge þat is inspyred of God is profytabel to techen men, & to vndernymen hem, & to amenden hem,
