broþer & Goddes seruaunt in þe euangelye of Crist, to con|ferme [verse 3] ȝow, & to byseche ȝou for ȝoure feiþ; þat noman be y-mefed in þese trybulacyons; for ȝe wyteþ ȝow-selfe þat in þis we beþ y-sett. [verse 4] For whenne we weren wiþ ȝow, we tolden ȝou þis byfore, þat we schulden suffre trybulacyones; as it is y-don, & as ȝe knoweþ. [verse 5] And þerfore y ne abode no lengere, bote sende to knowe ȝoure feiþ, lest he þat tempteþ haue y-tempted ȝou, & oure trauayle be y-mad veyn. [verse 6] Bote now when Tymothe comeþ from ȝou to ous, & telleþ ous ȝoure feiþ & ȝoure charyte, & þat ȝe han good mynde on ous, & þat ȝe wolden sen ous, as we wolden ȝow. [verse 7] & þerfore, breþeren, we beþ ycoumforted in ȝow in al oure [ȝoure P.] nede & al oure [ȝoure P.] [verse 8] trybulacyoun þorȝ ȝoure feiþ: for now we lyfeþ, ȝif þat ȝe stondeþ in oure Lord. [verse 9] & what þankynges mow we ȝelde to God for ȝow in al oure ioye, þat we ioyeþ for ȝow to-foren [verse 10] oure God; preyenge boþe nyȝt & day þat we sen ȝoure vysage, & þat we fulfullen þilke þinges þat lakkeþ to ȝoure [oure P.] feiþ. [verse 11] Bote God oure Fader, & oure Lord Iesu Crist, dresse [verse 12] oure weye to-ward ȝow: & God multyplye ȝou & encrece ȝoure charyte [P folio 68b] to-gedere, & to alle men, ryȝt as we beþ in [verse 13] ȝow: to conferme ȝoure hertes wiþ-outen blame in holynesse to-fore God oure Fader, in þe comynge of oure God Iesu [Iesu twice, P.] Crist wiþ alle his seyntes.
