[verse 4] Charite is pacyent & benygne; charite ne hateþ no man, [verse 5] ne doþ not wykkedlyche, ne is not y-blowe wiþ pruyde; he ne [om. P.] is not coueytous, he ne secheþ noȝt his owne þinges, he ne [verse 6] is noȝt y-wraþþed, he ne þenkeþ non yuel, ne ioyeþ noȝt up-on [verse 7] wykkednesse, bote ioyeþ to trewþe; alle þinges he suffreþ, alle þinges he byleueþ, alle þinges he hopeþ, alle þinges he abydeþ. [verse 8] Charite ne falleþ nefer a-wey: wheþer þat pro|phecyes schuleþ ben voydyd a-wey [S folio 46b] , oþer langages schulen [P folio 53b] cessen, oþer cunnynge schal be destroyed. [verse 9] For a party we knoweþ, & a party we prophecyeþ. [verse 10] Bote whanne þat comeþ þat is parfyt, þanne it schal ben voyded þat þinge þat ne is bote a party. [verse 11] Whan y was a lytel chylde, I spak as a lytel chyld, & y þouȝte as a lytel child, & y safered as a lytel chyld: bote whenne y was man, y voyded a-wey þilke þinges þat weren of childhode. [verse 12] We seþ now þorowȝ a myrour in derk|nesse, bote þanne we schulen sen facé to face. Now y knowe a partye, bote þanne y schal knowe ryȝt as y am y-knowe my-selfe. [verse 13] & now dwelleþ þes þinges, feiþ, hope, & charite; bote þe grettest of þese is charyte.

II. CORINTHIANS.

P.] þe, & in þe day of hele y haue y-holpe [y om. P.] þe; and lo, now is an acceptabel tyme, and a day of hele.
