He dide hym norice [norish.] at Wynchestre, And ȝald [mad.] hym monk in þat same estre; Þat oþer sone highte Aurelyus, His to-name was Ambrosius; Line 7000 Þe þridde child, Vter he hight, Þat lyuede lengest, & best was knyght. Þe bischop, þorow leue of þe kynge, Hadde þe two in his kepynge. Line 7004 ȝyf Constant had lyued ani sel, [any seele.] He schuld haue mended þe lond ful wel; Two [ten.] ȝer he regned, & namo; Lyst how a traitour dide hym slo: Line 7008 ¶ On ffortyger, of Walsche blod, [One Vortiger of Wales blode.] Þat neuere in truþe no stude stod, [while stode.] He ȝerned mikel þe kyndam. Lyst how þe treson fro hym [listes how þis treson for him.] cam: Line 7012

¶ De quodam Pycto traditore.

Y þe kynges court serued a Peyght, Þat was þorow ffortegers deseit; [þorgh Vortigers sleiht.] Þis Peit, longe wiþ þe kyng had ben; Of treson he þoughte ay by-twen; Line 7016 Þys Peyt ȝede wyþ þe kynge a day Vntil [In to.] an herber alone to play; Bot hit was perceyued of non Whider þe kyng & þe Peyt was gon. Line 7020 Þe kyng of treson wende nought, Bot þe Peyt þeron he þought; As þey boþe to-gyder sat, & speken þer of many what, Line 7024 Þe kyng til hym gaf no tent.
