[571] ¶ Manslauhtere in dede is in .iiij. maners; þat on is be lawe; Riht as a Iustice dampneþ him þat is coupable to þe deþe; bot latte þe Iustice be warre þat he do it rihtfully; And þat he do it not for delite to spil blode bot for kepeinge of rihtwis|nesse; [572] ¶ Anoþere homycide is done for necessite; as whan a manne sleþe anoþere in his defendant; And þat he ne maye none oþere wise eschape fromme his owen deþ; [573] Bot certeynly if he maie eskape with|outen slauhter of his aduersarye & sleþ him he doþ sinne; & he schal bere penance as for dedely sinne; [574] Eke if a man be cas or aduenture schete an arwe or cast a stone; with þe whiche he sleþe a man it is homycide. [575] Eke if a womman be necligence ouerelyþe hir childe in slepeinge. [folio 241b] itt is homicide & dedely sinne; [576] Eke whan a man distroubleþ þe con|cepcion of a childe or makeþ a womman barayne be drinkeinge of venemous herbes þoruhe whiche sche may nouht conceyue; or sleþe a childe be drinkes; or elles putteþ inne certein material þinges in hire secre places to sle þe childe [577] or elles doþe vnkinde sinne be whiche man or womman schediþ his nature in manere or in place þere as a childe maie nouht be con|ceyued; or elles if a womman haþe conceyued & hurteþ her self & sleeþe here childe; ȝit is it homycide; [578] Whatte seye we eke of wemmen þat mordren her childern; for drede of werldly schame certes an hor|rible homycide; [579] Homycide is eke if a manne aprocheþ to a womman be desire be desire of lychery; be þe whiche þe child is perisched; or elles smyteþ a womman wityngly þoruhe whiche sche leseþ his childe; Al þes ben homy|cides; and dedely orrible sinnes; [580] ¶ ȝutte commeþ þere of Ire mony mo sinnes; as wele in worde as in þouhte; and in dede; as he þat aretteþ vppon god or blameþ god of þinge of whiche he is him selfe gilty; or displeseþ god & al his halowes as done þes cursed hasadours
