[verse 1] In that tyme the Lord seide to me, Hewe thou twei tablis of stoon to thee, as the formere weren; and stie thou [thou vp IS.] to me `in to [in C.] the hil. And thou schalt make an [verse 2] arke, `ether a cofere [Om. I.] , of tree, and Y schal write in the [tho KS. thes X pr. m.] tablis, the wordis that weren in these tablis whiche thou brakist bifore; and thou schalt putte tho tablis in to the arke. [verse 3] Therfor Y made an ark of the trees of Sechim, and whanne Y hadde hewe twei [the twei IS.] tablis of stoon, at the licnesse of the formere tablis, Y stiede [ȝede vp I. stiede vp S.] in to the hil, and hadde [I hadde IS.] the [tho A sec. m.] tablis in the [myn IS.] hondis. [verse 4] And he [the Lord S.] wroot in the tablis, bi that [that maner IS.] that he `hadde writun [wroot IS.] bifore, ten [the ten IS.] wordis, whiche the Lord spak to ȝou in the hil, fro the [Om. IS.] myddis of the fyer, whanne the puple was gaderid, and he [the Lord IS.] ȝaf the [tho A sec. m. C sec. m.] tablis to me. [verse 5] And Y turnide aȝen fro the hil, and cam doun, and puttide [I putte IS.] the tablis in to the arke which [that IS.] Y hadde maad, `whiche tablis [the whiche I.] ben there hidur to, as the Lord comaundide to me. [verse 6] Forsothe [And IS.] the sones

of Israel moueden tentis [her tentis IS.] fro Beroth [a place S marg.] of the sones of Jachan in to Mosera, where Aaron was deed, and biried, for whom his sone Eleazar was set in preesthod. [verse 7] Fro thennus thei [Israel S.] camen in to Galgad [Galaad S.] ; fro which place thei ȝeden forth, and settiden tentis in Jehabatha, in the lond of watris and of strondis. [verse 8] In that tyme Y departide the lynage of Leuy, that it schulde bere the arke of boond [the boond IS.] of pees of the Lord, and [that S.] schulde [it schulde IS.] stonde bifor hym in [in his S.] seruyce, and schulde blesse in his name til [Om. IS.] in to present [this present IS.] dai. [verse 9] For which thing Leuy hadde not [no IS.] part, nether possession with hise bri|thren, for the Lord hym silf is his posses|sioun, as thi Lord God bihiȝte to hym. [verse 10] Forsothe [And IS.] Y stood in the hil as [as I dide IS.] bifore, fourti daies and fourti niȝtis, and the Lord herde me also in this tyme, and nolde [he wolde not I.] leese thee. [verse 11] And he seide to me, Go thou, and go bifor this puple, that it entre, and welde the lond which [that I.] Y swoor [swoor of I.] to her fadris, that Y schulde ȝeue [ȝeue it IS.] to hem. [verse 12] And now [thou K.] , Israel [Om. I.] , what axith thi Lord God of thee, no [Om. I.] but that thou drede thi Lord, and go in hise weies, and that thou loue hym, and serue thi Lord God in al [verse 13] thin herte, and in al thi soule; and that thou kepe the comaundementis [heestis IS.] of thi Lord God, and the cerymonyes of hym, whiche Y comaunde to thee to dai, that it be wel to thee. [verse 14] Lo! heuene is of thi Lord God, and heuene of heuene; the erthe and alle thingis that ben ther ynne ben [verse 15] hise; and netheles the Lord was glued [ioyned I. bi feruent affeccioun S marg.] [the Lord was glued, that is, was ioyned to hem with the glu of charite bi his pure li|beralte, for he hadde no nede to hem, as ne|ther to thee. Lire here. C.] to thi fadris, and louede [he louede IKS.] hem, and he chees her seed after hem, and ȝou of alle folkis, as it is preued to dai. [verse 16] Therfor cir|cumcide [circumciden ACFX pr. m.] ȝe the prepucie, `ethir [that is, the S.] vnclen|nesse [Om. I.] , of ȝoure herte [of ȝoure herte, that is, in do|inge awey al yuel thouȝt and wille. Lire here. C.] , and no more make ȝe harde ȝoure nol. [verse 17] For ȝoure Lord God hym silf is God of goddis, and Lord of

lordis, `God greet [a gret God IS.] , and miȝti, and feerd|ful [fereful IS.] , which [that I.] takith not persoone [a persoone IS.] , nether ȝiftis [but iustli he demith riche and pore S marg.] . [verse 18] He makith doom [iust doom S.] to the fadirles, and modirles, and to the widewe; he loueth a pilgrym, and ȝyueth [he ȝyueth IS.] to hym lyif|lode and clothing. [verse 19] And therfor `loue ȝe [loueth I.] pilgryms, for also [alle IS.] ȝe weren comelyngis in the lond of Egipt. [verse 20] Thou schalt drede thi Lord God, and thou schalt serue hym aloone, and thou schalt cleue to hym, and thou schalt swere in his name [trewly speking and fulfilling S marg.] . [verse 21] He is thi preisyng, and thi God, that made to thee these grete dedis [werkis IS.] , and ferdful [fereful IS.] , whiche thin iȝen siȝen [han seen IS.] . [verse 22] In seuenti men [lyues I.] thi fadris ȝeden doun in to Egipt, and lo! now thi Lord God hath multiplied thee as the sterris of heuene.
