[verse 3] And Aaron dide [dide so IS.] , and puttide [he puttide IS.] lanternes [the lanternes IS.] on [vpon IS.] the candilstike, as the Lord comaund|ide to Moises. [verse 4] Sotheli this was the mak|yng of the candilstike; it was of gold betun out with hameris, as wel the myd|dil stok as alle thingis [the thingis IS.] that camen forth of [on S.] euer eithir side of the ȝeerdis; bi the saumple [ensaumple IS.] `whych the Lord [that God IS.] schewide to Moises, so he wrouȝte the candilstike. [verse 5] And [verse 6] the Lord spak to Moises, and seide, Take thou Leuytis [the dekens I. dekens S.] fro the myddis of the sones [verse 7] of Israel; and thou schalt clense hem bi this custom. Be thei spreynt with wa|tir of clensyng, and schaue thei alle the heeris of her fleisch. And whanne thei han waische her clothis and ben clensid, [verse 8] take thei an oxe of drooues [the drooues IS.] , and the flet|yng sacrifice therof, flour spreynt to gidere with oile; forsothe thou schalt take an|other [verse 9] oxe of the drooue for synne; and thou schalt present the Leuytis [dekenes IS.] bifor the tabernacle of boond [the boond I.] of pees, whanne al the multitude of the sones of Israel is clepid togidere. [verse 10] And whanne the Leuytis [dikens IS.] ben [ben presentid S.] bifor the Lord, the sones of Israel schulen [verse 11] sette her hondis on [vpon IS.] hem; and Aaron schal offre [offre or presente S.] the Leuytis [dekenes IS.] in the siȝt of the Lord, a [as a S.] ȝifte of the sones of Israel, that thei serue in the seruice `of hym [Om. S.] . [verse 12] Also the Leuytis schulen sette her hondis on [vpon IS.] the heedis of the oxun, of whiche oxun thou schalt make [make or ordeyne S.] oon for synne, and the to|ther in to brent sacrifice of the Lord, that thou preye for hem. boond of pees, that thei serue me; and so thou schalt clense and schalt [Om. IS.] halewe hem, in to an offryng of the Lord, for bi fre ȝifte thei ben ȝouun to me of the sones of Israel. [verse 16] Y haue take hem for the firste gendrid [goten I.] thingis that openen ech wombe [priuy wombe C pr. m.] [verse 17] in Israel; for alle the firste gendrid [goten I.] thingis of the sones of Israel ben myne, as wel of men as of beestis, fro the dai in which Y smoot ech firste gendrid thing in the loond of Egipt, Y halewide hem [hem, that is, the firste gendrid sones BCGKNQX.] to me. [verse 18] And Y took the Leuytis for alle the firste gen|drid [verse 19] [bigoten I.] children [Om. I.] of the sones of Israel; and Y ȝaf hem bi fre ȝifte to Aaron and hise [to hise IS.] sones, fro the myddis of the puple, that thei serue me for Israel, in the tabernacle of boond [the boond I.] of pees, and that thei preie for hem, lest veniaunce be in the puple, if thei ben hardi to neiȝe to the seyntuarye. [verse 20] And Moises and Aaron, and al the multitude of the sones of Israel, diden on [vpon IS.] the Le|uitis tho thingis that the Lord comaundide to Moyses. [verse 21] And thei [the Leuytis IS.] weren clensid, and thei waischiden her clothis; and Aaron reiside [reiside, that is, presentide BCEGKLNPQX. reiside or presentid S.] hem in the siȝt of the Lord, and [verse 22] preiede [he preiede IS.] for hem, that thei schulen be clensid, and schulden entre to her offices in to the tabernacle of boond of pees, bifor Aaron and hise sones; as the Lord co|maundide to Moises of the Leuytis, so it was don. [verse 23] And the Lord spak to Moises, [verse 24] and seide, This is lawe [the lawe plures.] of Leuytis; fro fyue and twentithe [twenti plures.] ȝeer [fro xxv. ȝeer, for thanne thei entriden to lerne the of|fices, but in the xxx. ȝeer, they weren ordeyn|ed mynystris, if they weren able. CKQX.] and aboue thei schulen entre, for to mynystre in the ta|bernacle [verse 25] of boond of pees; and whanne thei han fillid [fulfillid IS.] the fiftithe ȝeer of age [her age IS.] , thei schulen ceesse to serue [serue, that is, to bere burthuns BCGKQSX.] . [verse 26] And thei schulen be the mynystris [seruauntis IS.] of her bretheren in the tabernacle of boond of pees, that thei kepe tho thingis that ben bitakun to hem; so|thely thei schulen not do tho werkis [werkis, as thei diden bifore S.] ; thus thou schalt dispose Leuytis in her kepyngis.
