CAP. XXXI.
[verse 1] And the Lord spak to Moyses, and [verse 2] seide, Venge thou firste the sones of Israel of Madianytis [the men of Madian IS.] , and so thou schalt be ga|derid to thi puple. [verse 3] And anoon Moises seide, Arme ȝe men of ȝou to batel, that moun take of Madianytis [the Madianytis IS.] the veniaunce of the Lord. [verse 4] Of [and of IS.] ech lynage be chosun [ther chosun I.] a thousynde men of Israel, that schulen be sent to batel. [verse 5] And of ech lynage thei ȝauen a thousynde, that is twelue thou|synde [verse 6] of men [Om. IS.] , redi to batel; whiche Moises sente [sente forth IS.] with Fynees, the sone of Eleazar, preest [the preest I.] . And he [Moises IS.] bitook to hem hooli vesselis, and trumpis to make sown.
