Joseph [Joseph sone S.] , neiȝeden; of whiche douȝtris these ben the names; Maala, and Noha, and Egla, and Melcha, and Thersa. [verse 2] And thei stoden bifore Moises, and Eleazar, preest [the preest IS.] , and alle [bifore alle S.] the princes of the puple, at the dore of tabernacle [the tabernacle IS.] of boond of pees; [verse 3] and seiden [thei seiden IS.] , Oure fadir was deed in the [Om. IORST sec. m. W.] deseert, nether he was in the rebelte, that was reisid aȝens the Lord, vndur Chore, but he was deed in his synne; he hadde no male sones. Whi is `the name of hym [his name IS.] takun awei fro his meynee, for he hath no sone? Ȝif ȝe possessioun to vs among `the kynesmen of oure fadir [oure fadir kynnusmen IS.] . [verse 4] And Moises telde `the cause of hem [her cause IS.] to the doom of [verse 5] the Lord; which [the which I.] seide to Moyses, [verse 6] The douȝtris of Salphaath axen a iust thing; ȝyue thou possessioun to hem among `the kynnysmen of her fadir [her fadris kynnus|men I. her fadir k. S.] , and be thei suc|cessouris to hym in to eritage. [verse 7] Forsothe [Sotheli IS.] thou schalt speke these thingis to the [verse 8] sons of Israel, Whanne a man is deed with out sone, the eritage schal go to his [verse 9] douȝter; if he hath not [no IS.] a [Om. I.] douȝter, he [verse 10] schal haue eiris [his eiris IS.] his britheren; that [Om. IS.] and if britheren [ther britheren I.] ben [that ben S.] not [not to him S.] , ȝe schulen ȝyue the [verse 11] eritage to `the britheren of his fadir [his fadir bretheren S.] ; for|sothe [sothely IS.] if he hath [haue I.] no [not plures.] britheren of his fa|dir, the eritage schal be ȝouun to hem that ben next to hym. [verse 20] And thou schalt ȝyue to hym comaundementis [heestis I. my heestis S.] , in the siȝt of alle men, and a part of thi glorie, that al the synagoge [lynage S.] of the sones of Israel here hym. [verse 21] If ony thing schal be worthi to be do for this man [Josue I. man Josue S.] , Elea|sar, preest [the preest A pr. m.] , schal counseil the Lord; he [Josue IS.] schal go out, and schal [he schal S.] go yn, at the word of Eleazar; he, and alle the sones of Israel with him, and the tother [that other IS.] mul|titude. [verse 22] Moises dide as the Lord comaund|ide, and whanne he hadde take Josue, he settide [sette IS.] hym bifore Eleazar, preest [the preest IS.] , and [verse 23] bifore al the multitude of the puple; and whanne he hadde set [putt his IS.] hondis on [vpon IS.] his heed, he reherside alle thingis whiche [that IS.] the Lord comaundide.
