CAP. XV.

[verse 1] And the Lord spak to Moises, and seide, [verse 2] Speke thou to the sones of Israel, and thou schalt seie to hem, Whanne ȝe han entrid in to the lond of ȝoure abitacioun [dwelling IS.] [verse 3] which [that I.] Y schal ȝyue to ȝou, and ȝe make [schul make IS.] an offryng to the Lord in to brent sacri|fice, ether a pesible sacrifice, and ȝe [ȝif ȝe IS.] payen [schul paie ȝoure I. shulen paie or do ȝoure S.] auowis, ethir offren ȝiftis bi [bi ȝoure S.] fre wille, ethir [ethir ȝif IS.] in ȝoure solempnytees ȝe brennen [shul brenne IS.] odour [smelling IS.] of [Om. S.] swetnesse to the Lord, of oxun, [verse 4] ether of scheep; who euer offrith the [Om. IOR sec.m. ST sec.m.] slayn sacrifice, schal offre a [Om. A.] sacrifice of flour, the tenthe part of ephi, spreynt togidere with oile, which [the which I.] oil schal haue a mesure [verse 5] the fourthe part of hyn; and he schal ȝyue wyn to fletynge sacrifices to be sched [held I.] , of the same mesure, in to brent sacrifice, and slayn sacrifice. [verse 6] Bi ech loomb and ram schal be the sacrifice of flour, of twey tenthe partis, which [the which I.] schal be spreynt to|gidere with oile, of the thridde part of [verse 7] hyn; and he schal offre wyn to the flet|ynge sacrifice, of the thridde part of the same mesure, in to odour [smellyng IS.] of swetnesse to the Lord. [verse 8] Forsothe [sothely IS.] whanne thou makist a brent sacrifice, ethir an offryng of oxun, that thou fille [fulfil IS.] avow, ethir pesible sacri|fice, [verse 9] thou schalt ȝyue, bi ech oxe, thre tenthe partis of flour [tried flour IS.] , spreynt togidere with oile, which [the which I.] schal haue the half of [Om. IS.] mesure of [verse 10] hyn; and thou schalt ȝyue wyn to fletynge sacrifices [sacrifice C.] to be sched [held I.] , of the same mesure, [verse 11] in to offryng of the swettest odour [smell IS.] to the Lord. [verse 12] So ȝe schulen do bi ech oxe, and [verse 13] ram, and lomb, and kide; as wel men [verse 14] borun in the lond, as pilgrymys [that is, men conuerted to the lawe of Jewis. BCKQX.] , schulen [verse 15] offre sacrifices bi the same custom; o co|maundement and doom schal be, as wel to ȝou as to comelyngis of the lond. [verse 16] And [verse 17] the Lord spak to Moises, and seide, Speke thou to the sones of Israel, and thou schalt

[verse 18] seie to hem, Whanne ȝe comen in to the [verse 19] lond which [that IS.] Y schal ȝyue to ȝou, and `ȝe eten [whanne ȝe schul ete IS.] of the looues of that [Om. S.] cuntrey, ȝe [verse 20] schulen departe the firste fruytis [the firste fruytis: in Ebreu it is a litil cake of ȝoure pastis. C GKQX.] of ȝoure metis to the Lord; as ȝe schulen departe [verse 21] the firste fruytis of corn [ȝoure corn IS.] flooris, so ȝe schulen ȝyue the firste fruytis also [also and K.] of sewis [ȝoure sowuels I. ȝoure sewis or sowlis S.] to the Lord. [verse 22] That if bi ignoraunce ȝe passen ony of tho thingis whiche the [verse 23] Lord spak to Moyses, and comaundide bi hym to ȝou, fro the dai in which he bigan [verse 24] to comaunde, and ouer [fro now forth S marg.] , and the multitude hath forȝete to do [do this I. do his heest S.] , it schal offre a calf of the drooue, brent sacrifice in to swettist [ful swete smellyng I. swettist smelling S.] odour to the Lord, and the sacrificis ther|of, and fletynge offryngis [offryngis that the peple shal offre S.] , as the cerymo|nyes therof axen; and it schal offre a `buc of geet [goot bucke IS.] for synne. [verse 25] And the preest schal preie for al the multitude of the sones of Israel, and it schal be forȝouun to hem, for thei synneden not wilfuli. And ne|uerthelesse thei schulen offre encense to the Lord for hemsilf, and for her synne [verse 26] and errour [her errour IS.] ; and it schal be forȝouun to al the puple of the sones of Israel, and to comelyngis [the comelyngis IS.] that ben pilgryms among hem, for it is the synne of al the multitude bi ignoraunce. [verse 27] That if a [o plures.] soule [lijf I.] synneth vn|wityngli [vnwityng G.] , it schal offre a geet of o ȝeer for his synne; and the preest schal preye for that soule, for it synnede vnwityngli bifor [verse 28] the Lord; and the preest schal gete for|ȝyuenesse to it, and synne [the synne IKX.] schal be for|ȝouun to it [him QX.] . [verse 29] As wel to men [a man K.] borun in the lond as to comelyngis, o lawe schal be of alle that synnen vnwityngli. [verse 30] Forsothe [sothely IS.] a man that doith ony synne bi pride, schal perische fro his puple, whether he be a citeseyn, ethir a pilgrym, for he was rebel [verse 31] aȝens the Lord; for he dispiside the word of the Lord, and made voide his co|maundement [heest IS.] ; therfor he schal be doon awei, and schal [he schal I.] bere his owne [Om. ISX.] wickid|nes. [verse 32] Forsothe [sothely I.] it was doon, whanne the

sones of Israel weren in wildirnesse, and hadde [Om. CKM. thei hadden IS.] founde a man gaderynge woode in [verse 33] the `day of sabat [sabot day IS.] , thei brouȝten hym to Moises, and to Aaron, and to al the mul|titude; [verse 34] whiche [the whiche I.] closiden [closiden or put S.] hym in to [Om. I.] pri|soun, and wisten [thei wisten IS.] [and wisten not, etc. they wisten not bi what deth he schulde die, ether wher he dide this synne witingly, til God certifiede to hem. Lire here. CGKQX.] not what thei schulden do of [to IS.] hym. [verse 35] And the Lord seide to Moises, This man die bi deeth; al the cum|peny oppresse hym with stoonus with out the tentis. [verse 36] And whanne thei hadden led hym with out forth, thei oppressiden [killiden IS.] him with stoonus, and he was deed, as the Lord comaundide. [verse 37] Also the Lord seide [verse 38] to Moises, Speke thou to the sones of Is|rael, and thou schalt seye to hem, that thei make to hem hemmes bi foure cor|neris of mentils [her mentils IS.] , and sette [festne thei in hem I. feste thei in tho S.] laces of ia|cynct [verse 39] `in tho [Om. IS.] ; and whanne thei seen thoo, haue thei mynde of alle comaundementis [heestis I. the heestis S. the comaundementis X.] of the Lord, lest thei suen her thouȝtis and iȝen [her iȝen IS.] , doynge fornycacioun bi dyuerse [verse 40] thingis; but more be thei myndeful of the `Lordis heestis [heestis of the Lord I.] , and do thei tho, and be thei hooli to her God. [verse 41] Y am ȝoure Lord God, which [that S.] ledde ȝou out of the lond of Egipt, that Y schulde be ȝoure God.
