[verse 1] If a soule [soule, that is, man BCGKNQ. man IS.] synneth, and [and that is N.] [This word and is seet for that is. Lire, and the glos here. CGQX.] hereth the vois of a [Om. E.] swerere [In Ebreu it is of an ooth, and this lettre is vndurstondun of him, that is requirid to bere witnessyng of a thing that he knowith, and wole not, but hidith the truth. Lire here. CGQX.] , and is witnesse [witnesse theroff IS.] , `for ether he siȝ [either herith it S.] , ether [or I. ethir he W.] `is witynge [knowith it IS.] , if he schewith [shewe S.] not [it not IS.] , he schal bere his synne. [verse 2] A persone that touchith ony vnclene thing, ether [or passim ELP. othir O. eny S.] which [that thing that IS.] is slayn of a beeste, ether is deed bi it silf, ether touchith ony other crepynge beeste, and forȝetith his vnclen|nesse, he is gilti, and trespassith. [verse 3] And if he touchith ony thing of the vnclennesse of man [a man D.] , bi al the vnclennesse bi which he is wont to be defoulid, and he forȝetith [forȝetith it IOS.] , and knowith [knowith this S.] afterward, he [Om. B.] schal be suget to trespas [that trespas IS.] . [verse 4] A soule [man IS.] that swerith, and bryngith forth with hise lippis, that it [he I.] schulde do ether yuel, ether [or EKLP.] wel, and doith not [it not S.] , and confermeth the same thing with an ooth, ethir with a word, and forȝetith [forȝetith what he swore or seide S.] , and aftirward vndirstondith his trespas, [verse 5] do it [he IS.] penaunce for synne [the synne I. his synne S.] , and offre it [he.] of the flockis a femal lomb, ethir a goet; [verse 6] and the preest schal preie for hym, and for his synne. [verse 7] But if he may not offre a [sich a IS.] beeste, offre he twei turtlis, ethir [ethir twey K sec. m.] `briddis of cul|uers [culuere briddis IS.] to the Lord, oon for synne [his synne S.] , and the tother in to brent sacrifice. [verse 8] And he schal ȝyue tho to the preest, which [the which I.] schal offre the firste for synne, and schal [he schal IS.] folde aȝen the heed therof to the wengis, so that it [the heed S.] cleue to the necke, and be not `brokyn outirli [fully broken awey S.] . [verse 9] And the preest schal sprynge the wal of the auter, of the blood therof; sotheli what euer `is residue [blood leeuith S.] , he [the preest IS.] schal make to [Om. S.] droppe doun at the `foundement of the auter [auteris foot I. auter foot S.] , for it is [is offrid S.] for synne. [verse 10] Sotheli [Forsothe IS.] he [the prest S.] schal brenne the tother brid in to brent

sacrifice, as it is wont to be doon; and the preest schal preie for hym, and for his synne, and it schal be forȝouun to hym. [verse 11] That if his hond [hond for pouerty S.] mai not offre twei tur|tlis, ethir twei `briddis of culueris [culuere briddis IS.] , he schal offre for his synne the tenthe part of ephi [that is, the tenthe part of iij. buschelis. IS.] of wheete [tried whete IS.] flour; he schal not putte oile `in to it [therto I. in to that floure S.] , nether he schal putte [putte to I. putte therto S.] ony thing of encense, for it is for synne. [verse 12] And he schal ȝyue it [Om. K.] to the preest, which [the which I.] preest [Om. I.] schal take vp an handful therof, and schal [he schal IS.] brenne [brenne it A pr. m. IS.] on the auter, in to mynde of hym [verse 13] that offeride [offeride it S.] , and the preest schal preie for hym, and schal [Om. IS.] clense [clense him IS.] ; forsothe he [the preest IS.] schal have the tother part in [in to IS.] ȝifte. [verse 14] And [verse 15] the Lord spak to Moises, and seide, If a soule [man IS. that is, a man K marg.] brekith cerymonyes [the cery|monyes I. my cer. S.] bi errour, and synneth [synne K.] in these [tho A pr. m.] thingis that ben hale|wid to the Lord, it [he IS.] schal offre for his tres|pas a ram without wem of the flockis, that may be bouȝt for twey siclis, bi [at IS.] the weiȝte of the [Om. K.] seyntuarie. [verse 16] And he schal restore that harm that he dide, and he schal putte the fyuethe part [part therof S.] aboue, and schal [he schal S.] ȝyue [ȝyue it S.] to the preest, which preest schal preye for hym, and offre the ram, and it schal be forȝouun to hym. [verse 17] A soule [man IS. that is, a man K marg.] that syn|neth bi ignoraunce, and doith oon of these thingis that ben forbodun in the lawe of the Lord, and is gilti of synne, and vndir|stondith [verse 18] his wickidnesse, it [Om. A sec. m. B. he IS.] schal offre to the preest a ram without wem of the flockis, bi the mesure of [and BDFGIMNOSWX.] estymacioun [estymacioun ether valu BCKNQX. estym. or valu ELPS.] of synne [the synne IS.] ; and the preest schal preye for hym, for he dide [dide yuel S.] vnwytynge, and it schal [verse 19] be forȝouun to him, for by errour he tres|passide aȝens the Lord. [verse 1] And the Lord [verse 2] spak to Moises, and seide, A soule [man IS. that is, a man K marg.] that synneth, and dispisith the Lord, and de|nyeth to his neiȝbore a thing bitakun to kepyng [his kepyng IS.] , that was bitakun to his feith [feithfulnesse BC.] , ethir takith [bitakith W.] maisterfuli a thing bi vio|lence, [verse 3] ether makith fals chaleng, ether

fyndith a thing lost, and denyeth [denyeth it S.] fer|thermore and forswerith, and doth ony other thing of manye [manye forboden S.] in whiche thingis [verse 4] men ben wont to do synne, `if it is con|uict [verse 5] of the gilt [Om. plures.] , it [he S.] schal ȝelde hool alle thingis whiche it [he IS.] wolde gete bi fraude, and ferthermore the fyuethe part to the lord, to whom it [he IS.] dide harm. [verse 6] Sotheli for his synne it [he IS.] schal offre a ram vnwemmed of the floc, and it [he IS.] schal ȝyue that ram to the preest, bi the valu and [or S.] mesure [the me|sure I.] of the [verse 7] trespas; and the preest schal preie for hym bifor the Lord, and it schal be for|ȝouun to hym, for alle thingis whiche [the whiche I.] he synnede in doyng.
