[verse 1] And the Lord spak to Moises and seide, [verse 2] Speke thou to the sones of Israel, and thou schalt seye to hem, These ben the feries [feries, that is, halidaies CEGIKLNOPQX. f. or haly daies S.] of the Lord, whiche [the whiche I.] ȝe schulen clepe [kepe S.] hooli [holi, for it is the restinge dai of the wook S.] . [verse 3] Sixe daies ȝe schulen do [Om. IS.] werk, the seuenthe dai schal be clepid hooli, for it is the reste [restynge day IS.] of sabat [the sabat C. the woke IS.] ; ȝe schulen not do [do in it IS.] ony werk [that is, seruyle werk I marg. werk forboden of God S.] ther ynne [Om. IS.] ; it is the sabat [reste IS.] of the Lord in alle ȝoure abitaciouns [dwellinge placis IS.] . [verse 4] These ben the hooli feries [feries ether solempnytees BC. daies IS.] of the Lord, whiche [the whiche I.] ȝe owen to halewe in her tymes. [verse 5] In the firste monethe, in the fourtenthe dai of the monethe, at euentid, is pask of [verse 6] the Lord; and in the fiftenthe dai of this monethe is the solempnyte of therf looues of the Lord; seuene [and seuene B.] daies ȝe schulen ete [verse 7] therf looues; the firste dai schal be moost solempne and hooli to ȝou; ȝe schulen not [verse 8] do ony `seruyle werk ther ynne [werk forboden to ȝou in that day S.] , but ȝe schulen offre sacrifice in fier to the Lord seuene daies; sotheli the seuenthe dai schal be more solempne and hooliere, `that is [Om. IS.] , `than the formere daies goynge bitwixe [Om. I.] , and ȝe schulen not do ony seruyle werk ther ynne. ȝyue to ȝou, and han rope [repen IS. repe KL.] corn, ȝe schulen bere handfuls of eeris of corn, the firste [cheef IS.] fruytis [fruyt S.] of ȝoure rype corn, to the preest; [verse 11] and the preest schal reise [reise vp IS.] a bundel [a bundel, in Ebreu it is go|mor, for the eeris of corn weren sengid in fier, and the cornes, that filliden a go|mor, weren schakun out, and weren of|frid so. Lire here. CQX.] bifor the Lord, that it be acceptable for ȝou, in the tother dai of sabat [the sabat IS.] , that is, of [Om. C.] pask; [verse 12] and the preest schal halewe that bundel; and [Om. C.] in the same dai, wher ynne the hand|ful is halewid, a lomb of o ȝeer without wem schal be slayn in to brent sacrifice of [verse 13] the Lord; and fletynge offryngis schulen be offrid ther with, twei tenthe partis of wheete [tried IS.] flour spreynt to gidere with oile, in to encense of the Lord, and swettist odour [smell IS.] , and fletynge offryngis of wyn, the fourthe part of hyn. [verse 14] Ȝe schulen not ete a [Om. A pr. m. et plures.] loof, nether a [Om. ELP.] cake, nether [ne L.] podagis [potage LS.] of the corn, `til to [til B. vnto IS. til into K.] the dai in which ȝe schu|len offre therof to ȝoure God; it is a co|maundement [heest IS.] euerlastynge in ȝoure gene|raciouns, [verse 15] and alle [alle ȝoure IS.] dwellyng placis. [verse 21] And ȝe schulen clepe this dai most solempne [solempne day IS.] , and moost hooli; ȝe schulen not do ther ynne ony seruyle werk; it schal be a lawful thing euerlastynge in alle ȝoure dwellyngis, and generaciouns. [verse 22] Forsothe aftir that ȝe han rope [ripe I. repe LS.] the corn of ȝoure lond, ȝe schulen not kitte it `til to [vnto S. to o sec. m.] the ground, nether ȝe schulen gadere the `eeris of corn [corn eeris S.] abidynge [that abiden I.] , but ȝe schulen leeue tho to pore men and pilgrymys; Y am `ȝoure Lord God [the Lord ȝ. G. IS.] . [verse 23] And the Lord spak to [verse 24] Moises, and seide, Speke thou to the sones of Israel, In the seuenthe monethe, in the firste day of the monethe, schal be [be the myndeful IS.] sabat [hooly day S.] memorial [Om. IS.] to ȝow, sownynge with trumpis, [verse 25] and it schal be clepid hooli; ȝe schulen not do ony seruyle werk ther ynne, and ȝe schulen offre [thanne offre S.] brent sacrifice [sacrifices K.] to the Lord. [verse 26] And the Lord spak to Moises, and seide, [verse 27] In the tenthe day of this seuenthe monethe, the day of clensyngis schal be moost so|lempne, and it schal be clepid hooli; and [and in it S.] ȝe schulen turmente ȝoure soulis to God, and ȝe schulen offre brent sacrifice to the [verse 28] Lord; ȝe schulen not do ony werk [forboden werk S.] in the tyme of this day, for it is the day of the [Om. plures.] clensyng, that ȝoure Lord God be merciful to ȝou. [verse 29] Ech `man which [lijf that I. man that S.] is not tourmentid in this day, schal perische fro his puplis, [verse 30] and Y schal do a way fro his puple that man that doith eny thing [thing forboden S.] of werk in that [verse 31] dai; therfor ȝe schulen not do ony thing of werk [for|boden werk S.] in that dai; it schal be a lawful thing euerlastynge to ȝou in alle ȝoure ge|neraciouns [verse 32] and abitaciouns [dwellyngis IS.] ; it is the sa|bat of restyng. Ȝe schulen [schulen ther ynne IS.] turmente ȝoure soulis fro the nynthe day of the monethe; fro euentid [the euentid W.] `til to [vnto IS. to O.] euentid ȝe schulen ha|lewe ȝoure sabatis. BC.] seuene daies ȝe schulen offre brent sacri|fices to the Lord, and the eiȝthe dai schal be moost solempne and moost hooli; and ȝe schulen offre [thanne offre S.] brent sacrifice to the Lord, for it is the day of cumpany, and of gader|yng; ȝe schulen not do ony seruyle werk ther ynne. [verse 37] These ben the feries [daies IS.] of the Lord, whiche ȝe schulen clepe moost so|lempne and moost hooli; and in tho [hem I. tho daies S.] ȝe schulen offre offryngis to the Lord, brent sacrifices, and fletynge offeryngis, bi the [verse 38] custom of ech day, outakun the sabatis of the Lord, and ȝoure ȝiftys, and whiche [that that IS.] ȝe offren bi avow [avowes ELP.] , ether whiche [that that IS.] ȝe ȝyuen bi fre wille to the Lord. [verse 39] Therfor fro the [Om. S.] fiftenthe day of the seuenthe monethe, whanne ȝe han gaderid alle the fruytis of ȝoure lond, ȝe schulen halewe the feries [daies S.] of the Lord seuene daies; in the firste day and the [in the IS.] eiȝte [eiȝti day B.] schal be sabat, that is, reste. [verse 40] And ȝe schulen take to ȝou in the firste day fruytis of the faireste tree, and braunchis of palm trees, and braunchis [the branchis IS.] of a `tree of thicke boowis [thicke bowid tree S.] , and salewis of the rennynge streem, and ȝe schulen be [verse 41] glad bifor ȝoure Lord God; and ȝe schulen halewe his solempnyte seuene daies bi [in IS.] the ȝeer; it schal be a lawful thing euerlast|ynge in ȝoure generaciouns. In the se|uenthe monethe ȝe schulen halewe feestis [the feest daies IS.] , [verse 42] and ȝe schulen dwelle in schadewynge placis seuene daies; ech man that is of the kyn of Israel [Irael A.] , schal dwelle in taber|naclis, [verse 43] that ȝoure aftercomers lerne, that Y made the sones of Israel to dwelle in ta|bernaculis, whanne Y ledde hem out of the lond of Egipt; Y am ȝoure Lord God. [verse 44] And Moises spak of the solempnytees of the Lord to the sones of Israel.
