CAP. VII.
[verse 1] And the Lord seide to Moises, Lo! Y haue maad thee the god of Farao [god of Farao, that is, myȝty ouer [on BGKX] him, to bringe in veniaunces bi Goddis vertu and doom CQ. ven. and doom B. ven. on him bi Goddis v. and d. G. bi Goddis wraththe and d. K.] ; and Aaron, thi brother, schal be thi prophete [profete, that is, inter|pretour ether biforspekere BCGKQX. p. that is, forspekere N.] . [verse 2] Thou schalt speke to Aaron alle thingis whiche Y comaunde to thee, and he schal speke to Farao, that he delyuere the sones of Israel fro his hond [lond BC sup. ras. DIS.] . [verse 3] But Y schal make hard his herte, and Y schal multiplie my signes and merueils in the lond of Egipt, [verse 4] and he schal not here ȝou; and Y schal sende myn hond on Egipt, and Y schal lede out myn oost, and my puple, the sones of Israel, fro the lond of Egipt bi mooste [verse 5] domes; and Egipcians schulen wite, that Y am the [Om. DGIKN sec. m. P sec. m. QRST.] Lord, which [the which I.] haue holde forth myn hond on Egipt, and haue led out of the myddis of hem the sones of Israel. [verse 6] And so Moises dide and Aaron; as the Lord co|maundide, so thei diden. [verse 7] Forsothe Moyses was of fourescoor ȝeer, and Aaron was [Om. I.] of fourescoor ȝeer and thre, whanne thei spaken to Farao. [verse 8] And the Lord seide to [verse 9] Moises and to Aaron, Whanne Farao schal seie to ȝou, Schewe ȝe signes to vs, thou schalt seie to Aaron, Take thi ȝerde, and caste forth it before Farao, and be it turned into a serpent. [verse 10] And so Moises and Aaron entriden to Farao, and diden as the Lord comaundide; and Aaron took the ȝeerde, and castide [keste IMS.] forth bifore [it bifore ISW.] Farao and hise seruauntis, which [the which I.] ȝerde was turned in to a serpent. [verse 11] Forsothe Farao clepide [clepide forth ELP.] wise men, and witchis [witti L.] , and thei also diden bi enchauntementis of Egipt, and bi summe [verse 12] priuy thingis in lijk [thilke E.] maner; and alle castiden forth her ȝerdis, whiche [the whiche I.] weren turned in to dragouns; but the ȝerde of Aaron deuouride `the ȝerdis of hem [her ȝerdis IS.] .
