[verse 1] And so whanne these thingis weren don, it was teld to Joseph, that his fadir was sijk. And he took hise twei sones, Ma|nasses and Effraym, and he disposide to [him to IS.] go. [verse 2] And it was seid to the elde man, Lo! thi sone Joseph cometh to thee; which [the which G.]

was coumfortid, and sat [sat vp IS.] in the bed. [verse 3] And whanne Joseph entride to hym, he seide, Almyȝti God apperide to me in Luza, which [that IS.] is in the lond of Canaan, and [verse 4] blesside me, and seide, Y schal encreesse and [thee and B.] multiplie thee, and Y schal make thee in to cumpanyes of puplis, and Y schal ȝyue to thee this lond, and to thi seed aftir thee, in to euerlastinge possessioun. [verse 5] Ther|for thi twei sones, that ben borun to thee in the lond of Egipt bifore that Y cam hidir to thee, schulen be myne, Effraym and Manasses as Ruben and Symeon [verse 6] schulen be arettid to me; forsothe the othere [tothere K.] whiche thou schalt gendre [gete I.] aftir hem schulen be thine; and thei schulen be clepid bi the name of her britheren in her possessiouns [possessioun E.] . [verse 7] Forsothe whanne Y cam fro Mesopotamye, Rachel was deed to me in the lond of Canaan, in thilke weie; and it was the [Om. E. in the G.] bigynnyng of somer [the somer DN pr. m. Jacob seide [seide to him E.] , Brynge [brynge ȝe F.] hem to me that Y blesse hem. [verse 10] For `the iȝen of Israel [Israel iȝen S.] , dasewiden for greet eelde, and he myȝte not se clereli; and he kisside and collide tho children ioyned to hym, [verse 11] and seide [he seide FIS.] to his sone, Y am not defraudid of thi siȝt; ferthermore God schewide [hath schewide I.] to me thi seed. Jacob chaungide [verse 15] `the hondes [his hond I. his hondis S.] , and blesside his sone Joseph, and seide, God, in whos siȝt my fadris Abraham and Isaac ȝeden; God, that fedith me fro my ȝong wexynge age til in [verse 16] to present [this present IS.] day; the aungel that delyuerede me fro alle yuelis, blesse thes [the E.] children, and my name be clepid on hem, and the names of my fadris Abraham and Ysaac; and wexe thei in multitude on erthe. [verse 17] For|sothe Joseph seiȝ that his fadir hadde set the [his IS.] riȝt hond on the heed of Effraym, and [and to bere ouer on the heed of Effraym, and E.] took [he took that IS.] heuyli, and he enforside to [him to IS.] reise the [his FIS.] fadris [fadir IS.] hond takun [and take it I.] fro the heed of Ef|fraym, and to bere `ouer on [it ouer vp on IS.] `the heed of [Om. S.] Manasses. [verse 18] And he [Joseph IS.] seide to the [his IS.] fadir, Fadir, it acordith not so; for this is the firste gendrid [bigeten I.] ; sette thi riȝt hond on the [his IS.] heed `of hym [Om. IS.] . [verse 19] Which [The which I.] forsook and [to do so and IS.] seide, Y woot, my sone, Y woot; and sotheli this child schal be in to puplis [many puplis IS.] , and he schal be multiplied; but his ȝonger brother schal be more than he, and `his seed [the seed of him IS.] schal en|creesse in to folkis. [verse 20] And he [Jacob IS.] blesside hem in that tyme, and seide, Israel schal be blessid in thee, Joseph [Effraym I.] , and it schal be seid [seid in pro|uerbe, I marg.] , God do to thee as to [he dide to I. he shal to S.] Effraym and as to Manasses. And he settide [sette EGILPS.] Effraym [verse 21] bifore Manasses; and seide to Joseph, his sone, Lo! Y die, and God schal be with ȝou, and schal [he schal IS.] lede ȝou aȝen to the lond [verse 22] of ȝoure fadris; Y ȝyue to thee o part ouer thi britheren which Y took fro the hand of Amorei, in my swerd and bowe.
