[verse 4] He [Jacob S.] sente, and clepide Rachel, and Lya, in to the feeld, where he kepte flockis, [verse 5] and he seide to hem, Y se the face [cheer S.] of ȝoure fadir, that it [he A.] is not aȝens me as `ȝisterdai and the thridde dai agoon [it was wonte S.] ; but God of my fadir was with me. [verse 6] And ȝe witen that with alle my strengthis Y ser|uede [haue seruede S.] [verse 7] ȝoure fadir; but and ȝoure fadir dis|seyuyde [hath disceyued S.] me, and chaungide my meede ten sithis; and netheles God suffride [suf|frith DGNQRT.] not hym to anoye me. [verse 8] If he seide ony tyme, Dy|uerse colourid sheep schulen be thi medis [meed S.] , alle sheep [the sheep IS.] brouȝten forth dyuerse co|lourid [Om. BC pr. m.] lambren; forsothe whanne he [that he S.] seide aȝenward, Thou shalte take alle white [the white IS.] for mede [thi mede GIS.] , alle the [Om. EL.] flockis brouȝten forth white [verse 9] beestis; and God took a wey the substaunce of ȝoure fadir, and ȝaf [ȝaf it S.] to me. [verse 10] For aftir that the tyme of conseyuyng of sheep cam, Y reiside myn iȝen, and seiȝ [I siȝ S.] in sleep malis dyuerse, and spotti, and of dyuerse co|louris, stiynge on [vp on S.] femalis. [verse 11] And the aun|gel of the Lord seide to me in sleep, Jacob! and Y answeride, Y am redy [redy to heere S.] . [verse 12] Which [The which I.] seide, Reise thin iȝen, and se alle malis dyuerse, byspreynt, and [or S.] spotti, stiynge on [vp on S.] femalis; for Y seiȝ [haue sien S.] alle thingis whiche [verse 13] Laban dide [hath do S.] to thee; Y am God of Bethel, where thou anoyntidist a stoon, and madist auow to me. Now therefor rise thou, and go out of this lond, and turne aȝen in to the lond of thi birthe. [verse 14] And Rachel and Lya answeriden, Wher we han ony thing residue [residue or left IS.] in the catels, and eritage of oure fadir? [verse 15] Wher he `arettide not [arettide not or helde S.] vs as [Om. S.] aliens, and selde, and eet oure prijs? [verse 16] But God took awei the richessis of oure fadir, and ȝaf tho [Om. ELP.] to vs, and to oure sones; wherfor do thou alle thingis whiche God hath co|maundide to thee. [verse 17] Forsothe Jacob roos, and puttide [putte S.] hise fre children and wyues [verse 18] on camels, and ȝede forth; and he took al his catel, flockis, and what euer thing he hadde gete in Mesopotanye, and ȝede to Isaac, his fadir, into the lond of Canaan.
