CAP. XIII.
[verse 1] And I siȝe [saye O passim.] a beest stiȝinge up of the se, hauynge seuen heedes [heuedis O et T passim.] , and ten hornes; and on [vpon T.] his hornes ten dyademes, and on [vpon T.] his heedes the names [name Q.] of blasfemye. [verse 2] And the beest, whom I siȝe, was lijk to [Om. QV.] a parde [liberde O.] , `or a lipard [or liparde ANQS. Om. TX. or a lybard V.] , and his feet as the feet of a bere, and his mouth as the mouth of a lyoun; and the dragoun ȝaf [ȝaf his vertu and greet power V.] to `the ilke [the ilke best T. that beeste V.] `his vertu, and greet power [Om. V.] . [verse 3] And I siȝe oon of his heedis, as slayn in to deeth; and the wounde of his deeth is [was V.] curid [curid, or helid T.] . And al erthe wondride aftir the beest. [verse 4] And [Om. V.] thei worschipiden the drag|oun, that ȝaf power to the beest; and thei worschipiden the beest, seiynge [and seiden V.] , Who [Who is TV.] lijk to [Om. V.] the beest, and who shal mowe fiȝte with it [him T.] ? [verse 5] And a mouth spekinge greet thinges, and blasfemyes, is [was V.] ȝouun to it [hym T.] ; and power is [was V.] ȝouun to it [Om. M. him T.] , for [Om. SX.] to do in two and fourty monethis. [verse 6] And it [he T.] open|yde his mouth in to [Om. Q.] blasfemyes to [in to O.] God, for [Om. SX.] to blasfeme his name, and his taber|nacle, and hem that dwellen in heuen. [verse 7] And it is [was V.] ȝouun to him for [Om. SX.] to make bateyl with seyntis, and for [Om. SX.] to ouercome hem; and power is [was V.] ȝouun to him, in to al [eche SV.] lynage [lynagis N.] , and puple, and tunge [tunge, or lan|gage AS. langage V.] , and folk. [verse 8] And alle men worschipiden it, that dwellen [dwelliden T.] in erthe, whois names ben not [no O.] writen in the book of lijf of the lomb,
