[verse 1] Do [Doth S.] now, ȝe [Om. S.] riche men, `wepe ȝe [weepith SX.] , ȝoul|ynge [ȝelling NV.] in ȝoure [Om. S.] wrecchidnessis [wrechednesse O.] that shulen come to ȝou. [verse 2] Ȝoure richesses ben maad roten, and ȝoure clothes ben eten of mouȝtis [moththis V. moȝhis X.] . [verse 3] Ȝoure gold and [and ȝoure QS.] siluer hath rustid, and rust of hem shal be to ȝou in [Om. O.] to witnessing, and shal ete ȝoure flesches [flesh SX.] , as fijr. Ȝe han tressourid to ȝou wrath in the laste dayes. [verse 4] Lo! the hijre of ȝoure werkmen, that repiden ȝoure cuntrees, that [which V.] is fraudid [fraudis N. defraudid X.] of ȝou, crieth; and the cry of hem entride in to the erys of the Lord of hoostis. [verse 5] Ȝe han ete on the erthe, and in ȝoure [Om. O.] leccheries ȝe han nurchid ȝoure hertes. [verse 6] In [And in S.] the day of sleynge ȝe `ledden to [brouȝten V.] , and slewen the iust man, and he `aȝenstode not ȝou [withstod ȝou not S.] . [verse 7] Therfore, bri|theren, be ȝe pacient, til to the comyng of the Lord. Lo! an erthe tilyer abijdith [abit S.] precious [the precious S.] fruyt of the erthe, paciently suf|fringe, til he receyue tymeful and lateful [lateful fruit V.] . [verse 8] And be ȝe pacient, and conferme [confermeth S.] ȝe [Om. A pr. m. OS.] ȝoure
