[verse 17] So and feith, if it haue [hath V.] not werkes, is deed in it silf. [verse 18] But sum man shal seie, Thou hast feith, and I haue werkes; shewe thou to [Om. V.] me thi feith with outen werkes, and I shal shewe to thee my feith of werkis. [verse 19] Thou bileuest, for [that OV.] oo God is; thou doist wel; and deuels bileuen, and togydere tremblen. [verse 20] Forsothe [But V.] wolt thou wite, thou veyn [idil N.] man, for [that V.] feith with outen werkes is ydel? [verse 21] Abraham [Wher Abraham V.] , oure fadir, wher [Om. V.] he was not iustified of werkis, of|fringe Ysaac, his sone, on the auter? [verse 22] Therfore [Forsothe O.] thou seest, for [that V.] feith wrouȝte with his [Om. T.] werkis, and his feith is [was V.] fulfillid [fillid V.] of werkis. [verse 23] And the scripture is [was V.] fulfillid [fillid V.] , seiynge, Abraham bileuede to God, and it is [was V.] rettid [yrettid Q. arettid V.] to him to riȝtwisnesse, and he is [was V.] clepid the frend of God. [verse 24] Ȝe seen for [that V.] a man is iustified of werkis, and not of feith onely. [verse 25] Also [In lyk maner V.] forsothe and [wher and V.] Raab, hoore, `wher she [Om. V.] was not iustifyed of werkis, receyuynge [she resseyuyng ANQ. and resseyuede V.] the messageres, and [and sent out V.] bi an other weie `doynge out [Om. V. sendende out X.] , `or sendinge out [Om. OX. or sendende S.] ? [verse 26] Forsothe [For V.] as a [the NOQSX.] body with oute spirit is deed, so and feith with oute werkis is deed.
