SX.] to seyle, baren [and baren V.] vp aboute the placis of Asie, `lastinge stille with vs Aristark of Macedonye, Tessalonycense [the while Aristark of Macydonie, Tessalonicense, dwellide stille with vs V.] . [verse 3] Forsoth the [in the V.] day suynge we camen to Sidon; sothli Julius tretynge [treedide V.] manly, or kurteysly, Poule, suffride [suffride hym NS. and suffride V.] for [Om. SX.] to go to frendis, and do [to do MPQT.] the [Om. T.] cure [nede O.] , `or nede [Om. OX.] , of hym. [verse 8] And vnnethe we `bi sydis seylinge [saileden bisidis and V.] , camen into sum place, that `is clepid [Om. O.] of good hauene, to whom the citee Tessala was nyȝ. [verse 15] And whanne the schipp was rauyschid, and myȝte not en|forse into [aȝens V.] the wynd, the [we weren born in the V.] schipp ȝouun to blowingis, `we were borun [Om. V.] . with greet [strong V] tempest, in the day suynge thei maden castyng out. [verse 19] And the thridde day with her hondis thei castiden [casten SX.] awey the [Om. Q.] instrumentis of the schipp. [verse 20] Sothely nether [whanne the V.] sunne nether sterris apperinge [appereden OV.] bi mo [manye NV.] dayes, and tempest not litil `schewinge nyȝ [neiȝede V.] , now al the hope of oure heelthe was don awey. [verse 21] And whanne moche fasting hadde be, thanne Poul stondinge [stood V.] in the myddel of hem, seyde [and seide V.] , A [O! N.] ! men, it bihofte [byhoueth GT.] `me herd [sothly for to here, and V.] , for [Om. SVX.] to not take awey fro [the schip fro V.] Crete, and make wynne [to wynne MPY sec. m. to wynnen ST.] this wrong and casting out. [verse 22] And now I counceile ȝou for [Om. SX.] to be of good ynwitt [coumfort V.] , `or herte [Om. OVX.] ; sothli [for whi V.] `ther schal be [Om. V.] loss of no soule [persoone V.] of ȝou [ȝou schal be V.] , out takun of the schipp. [verse 23] Forsoth [For V.] an aungel of God, whos [of whom MPT.] I am, and to whom I serue, [verse 24] stood nyȝ to me this [in this V.] nyȝt, seyinge [and seide V.] , Poul, drede thou not; it bihoueth thee for [Om. SX.] to stonde nyȝ to Cesar. And lo! God hath ȝouun to thee alle that ben in schipp [the schip QX.] with thee. [verse 25] For which thing, ȝe men, be [beth QSX.] of good ynwitt [coumfort V.] , `or herte [Om. NOVX.] ; forsoth [for V.] I bi|leue to my God, for [that V.] so it schal be, as it is seid to me. [verse 26] Sothli it bihoueth vs for [Om. SX.] to come into [in O.] sum yle. [verse 27] But aftirward that in [in the AGMNOPQSTVXY.] fourteneth day the nyȝt cam aboue to vs seilinge in the stoony [south N.] see, aboute mydnyȝt the schipmen supposiden sum regioun, `or cuntre [Om. [verse 30] Sothli `the schippmen sekinge [whanne the schipmen souȝten V.] for [Om. SX.] to fle of [fro V.] the schipp, whanne thei hadden sente a litel boot in to the see, vndir colour as

[verse 35] And whanne he hadde seid these thingis, `he takinge [Poul took V.] breed dide [and dide V.] thankingis to God in the siȝt of alle men; and whanne he hadde brokyn, he bigan for [Om. [verse 38] And thei fulfillid [weren fillid V.] with mete, discargeden [dischargeden MPX. and dischargiden V.] the schipp, castinge [castende out S. and castiden V.] whete [the whete X.] in to the see. [verse 39] Sothli whanne day was maad, thei knewen not lond; forsothe [sothly OSX.] thei biheelden [bileueden A.] sum hauene hauynge a water banke, into which thei thouȝten, if thei myȝten, for [Om. SX.] to caste [verse 40] the schipp. And whanne thei hadden takun vp the ancris, thei bitoken hem to [in to V.] the see, `to gidere slakinge [and slakiden togidere V.] the ioyntours of [and P. or Q.] gouernaylis. And a [with a V.] litil seil lift [liftid X.] vp, vp [Om. GT. bi V.] blowinge of the wynd thei wenten to the banke. [verse 41] And whanne we felden into a [the Y.] place of grauel gon al aboute with the see, thei hurtliden [hurten S.] the schipp. And [And whanne V.] the formere part ficchid [was ficchid V.] , dwellide [it dwelled OV.] vnmouable; sothli the laste part [party O.] was brokyn of strengthe [the strengthe QS.] of the see. [verse 42] Sothli counceil [the conseyle OS.] of the knyȝtis was, for [Om. SX.] to sle men in the

keping, lest ony schulde scape [ascape QT.] , whanne he hadde swymmed [swommen OSX.] out. [verse 43] Forsoth [But V.] the [Om. AMNOPQSXY.] centurioun [centurio X.] willinge [wilnynge O. wolde V.] `for to [to SX. Om. X.] kepe Poul, forbeed [and forbeed V.] for [Om. SX.] to be don. And he comaund|ide hem that myȝte swymme, for [Om. SX.] to sende hem the [Om. GMOPQSTVXY sec. m.] firste into [in Y pr. m.] the see, and scape, and go out to the lond. [verse 44] And `summe othere thei baren [thei baren summe other V.] in boordis, summe on tho thingis that weren of the schipp. And `it is [so it was V.] maad, that alle the `soulis, or lyuynge men, scapiden [men ascapeden V. soulis scapeden X.] to the lond.
